For a moment of true rest, there is nothing like soaking in the natural hot springs of Altyn-Arashan after a day of hiking through the alpine forests. Whether we are trekking toward the turquoise beauty of Ala-Kul or watching the sunset over the red cliffs of Jeti-Oguz, our favorite “destinations” are often the small, quiet moments in between—sharing tea with a herding family or riding a horse across an open mountain pasture that feels like the edge of the world.
