行程

Day 1 – Bishkek → Chong-Kemin Valley

Meet your guide and driver at Bishkek in the morning. Begin the journey west into the Kyrgyz countryside. After about 90 km, stop at the Burana Historical Tower, a centuries-old minaret surrounded by an open-air museum of Balbals(ancient stone figures) and a small archaeological museum. This is a perfect introduction to Kyrgyzstan’s history.

Continue driving to Chong-Kemin Valley, a lush alpine valley surrounded by mountains. Arrive at your family-run guesthouse and enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch. In the afternoon, mount your horses for a horseback ride around the valley. The valley is rich with coniferous forests, mixed groves of aspen, birch, and willow, and floodplain trees along the river. The peaceful scenery offers a relaxing immersion into Kyrgyz mountain life.

Stay at the guest house.

Day 2 – Chong-Kemin → Kok-Moynok Canyon → Cholpon-Ata

After breakfast at your guesthouse, drive about 1.5 hours (approx. 90 km) to Kok-Moynok Canyon, a spectacular natural canyon in the south of the country. This canyon is renowned for its long, narrow, and winding passages between steep walls, some reaching 10–70 meters in depth. Here, you can enjoy a 1–2 hour walk along the canyon paths, marveling at the dramatic yellow-red mountain formations, shaped by wind and water over millennia — a perfect blend of Kyrgyzstan’s southern landscapes and alpine charm.

After exploring Kok-Moynok, drive about 1.5 hours (approx. 80 km) to Cholpon-Ata, a scenic lakeside town on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake, the world’s second-largest saline alpine lake. Stop to visit the Stone Garden, an open-air museum of ancient petroglyphs, and the Nomad Civilization Museum to learn about Kyrgyz nomadic heritage.

After lunch, enjoy a 1–2 hour cruise on Issyk-Kul Lake, with optional swimming or relaxing along the sparkling shoreline. Later, check into your guesthouse for some free time to unwind and take in the alpine lake views.

Day 3 – Cholpon-Ata → Jeti-Oguz → Barskoon

After breakfast, drive to the Jeti-Oguz Gorge, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most scenic and iconic gorges. Its name, “Jeti-Oguz,” means “Seven Bulls” in Kyrgyz, inspired by a famous formation of seven towering red sandstone cliffs that resemble a line of bulls standing side by side. Nearby, another striking rock formation is called “Broken Heart”, a symbol of local legend about love and heartbreak, making the gorge not only geologically spectacular but also culturally significant.

The gorge is surrounded by lush coniferous forests, alpine meadows bursting with seasonal flowers, and cascading streams. After arriving, enjoy lunch in the gorge area, soaking in the panoramic mountain views.

In the afternoon, embark on a hike or horseback ride through the Kok-Jaik Valley (“Kok” meaning green and “Jaik” meaning meadow or river valley), a vibrant flower-filled valley with alpine blooms and gently rolling hills. Stop at the “Girl’s Braid” waterfall, named for the long, elegant flow of water resembling a braided hairstyle, a perfect photo opportunity and a refreshing spot to enjoy the natural beauty of the gorge.

Later, continue a short drive to Barskoon, a village at the base of the gorge, where you will have dinner and overnight stay in a traditional yurt camp, immersing yourself in authentic Kyrgyz nomadic life. Barskoon is also known for its spectacular waterfalls, streams, and alpine scenery, making it a natural highlight in the region

Day 4 – Barskoon → Skazka Canyon → Song-Kol Lake

After breakfast at Barskoon, begin the drive toward Song-Kol Lake, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most stunning high-altitude alpine lakes. Along the way, stop at Skazka Canyon (Fairy Tale Canyon), named for its fantastical red sandstone formations. Over millennia, wind and water erosion have sculpted the sandstone into shapes that resemble animals, mythical figures, and natural landmarks, making it a photographer’s paradise and one of Kyrgyzstan’s most magical natural wonders. The stop here typically involves 30–45 minutes of walking to explore and take photos.

After exploring the canyon, drive approximately 1–1.5 hours to a local Kyrgyz family home for lunch. Here, you can enjoy traditional home-cooked dishes and experience the warm hospitality of the nomadic lifestyle.

Following lunch, meet a traditional eagle hunter for a Berkut (golden eagle) show, a rare opportunity to witness an ancient hunting tradition practiced since the 10th century. The hunter will demonstrate how the majestic eagles are trained, and you may even hold the bird for photos.

After the show, continue 2–2.5 hours of driving through scenic mountain passes to reach Song-Kol Lake, located at 3,016 meters above sea level. The lake is surrounded by rolling summer pastures (jailoo) where nomadic herders graze horses, yaks, and sheep. Upon arrival, check into your traditional yurt, decorated with handwoven carpets, felt furnishings, and low wooden furniture, offering a cozy and authentic nomadic atmosphere.

End the day with a home-cooked Kyrgyz dinner while enjoying the tranquil beauty of the high-altitude lake and surrounding mountains.

Day 5 – Song-Kol Lake → Bishkek

Wake up at Song-Kol Lake, a high-altitude alpine lake at 3,016 meters and one of Kyrgyzstan’s most spectacular summer pastures (jailoo). The landscape here is strikingly open and treeless, with rolling grasslands stretching to the horizon, making it one of the best places in the country to stargaze at night and feel completely immersed in nature.

In the morning, you can choose to hike across the alpine meadows, ride horses along the lakeshore, swim in the lake, or visit local nomads to learn about their lifestyle and taste traditional dairy products like kumis (fermented mare’s milk).

After a traditional lunch in a yurt, begin the drive back to Bishkek. The journey takes approximately 5–6 hours, passing through scenic mountain passes, valleys, and open grasslands, offering one last glimpse of Kyrgyzstan’s breathtaking alpine landscapes.

Upon arrival in Bishkek, enjoy a farewell dinner with your group, celebrating the end of an unforgettable journey through alpine lakes, gorges, canyons, and nomadic traditions.
