Discover one of the world’s last great horseback frontiers on this unforgettable 6-day adventure in Kyrgyzstan. Far from crowded tourist trails, you’ll ride through soaring snow-capped mountains, untouched forests, endless emerald grasslands, and along the shimmering shores of Issyk-Kul Lake — a hidden alpine jewel of Central Asia.

Each day brings a new landscape and a deeper connection to Kyrgyzstan’s living nomadic culture. Gallop across highland meadows, witness the adrenaline-filled spectacle of Kok-Boru (traditional goat polo), and experience the ancient art of eagle hunting — a powerful tradition passed down for generations. Evenings are spent in charming countryside lodges and scenic lakeside hotels or yurt camps, where warm hospitality meets wild natural beauty.

This is more than a trip — it’s a rare opportunity to experience a land few travelers have discovered, on horseback, just as nomads have done for centuries. If you’re seeking wide-open spaces, authentic culture, and true adventure on horseback, Kyrgyzstan is waiting.

Itinerary

Day 1: Bishkek Airport –Chon-Kemin

Upon arrival at Bishkek International Airport, our team will greet you and arrange a comfortable group transfer to the beautiful Chon-Kemin Valley, located about two hours east of the capital. As we leave the city behind, the landscape quickly opens into vast steppe and mountain scenery.

The drive follows the Chu River, one of Kyrgyzstan’s most important waterways, with Kazakhstan visible just across the river to the north. Snow-capped peaks rise in the distance, offering your first glimpse of the natural beauty that defines this country.

We arrive at a charming countryside guesthouse around noon. After check-in and a short rest, we will begin our first horseback experience. Accompanied by an experienced local guide and horsemen, we ride out from the village into rolling hills and open pastures — a gentle introduction to Kyrgyzstan’s nomadic landscapes and the adventures ahead.

Day 2: Chon-Kemin Valley

On the second day, we set out on a full-day horseback journey of approximately 30 kilometers, riding deeper into the mountains. Our trail follows a scenic ridge line before leading us into pristine forest landscapes.

At one moment, we cross wide emerald-green alpine meadows stretching endlessly beneath open skies; the next, we find ourselves immersed in dense golden woodland. Evergreen coniferous trees grow side by side with deciduous broadleaf forests, creating a rich tapestry of color and texture.

In the distance, snow-capped peaks rise dramatically above the valleys. Thanks to the changing altitude, it feels as though summer, autumn, and winter exist all at once — lush grasslands below, golden forests mid-slope, and white mountain summits above.

After this rewarding day in the saddle, we return to our countryside guesthouse for a well-earned rest.

Day 3: Chon-Kemin Valley – Cholpon-Ata

This morning begins with the peaceful atmosphere of village life, where the distant call to prayer drifts across the valley. After enjoying breakfast, we head to a local field to witness Kok-Boru (a traditional Central Asian horseback sport in which two teams compete to carry a goat carcass into the opponent’s goal — often described as a rugged, nomadic version of polo).

Fast-paced, powerful, and deeply rooted in Kyrgyz nomadic heritage, Kok-Boru showcases the extraordinary riding skills, strength, and teamwork of the horsemen. Guests will have the opportunity to get closer to the action, learn about the rules and history of the game, and, if appropriate, experience a light introduction under supervision.

After approximately 20 km of riding this morning, we return to prepare for our journey to Issyk-Kul Lake. In the afternoon, we drive out of the canyon and toward the lake, a scenic transfer of about 2–3 hours.

Gradually, the landscape opens up and the immense blue waters of Issyk-Kul — one of the world’s largest high-altitude alpine lakes — come into view, framed by snow-capped mountains. Upon arrival at our lakeside hotel, you’ll have time to relax or enjoy a peaceful sunset walk along the shore.

Day 4: Cholpon-Ata - Semenov gorge

After breakfast, we ride out toward Kyrchyn Jailoo (“jailoo” meaning high mountain summer pasture in Kyrgyz). This vast alpine meadow is one of the most iconic landscapes in the country and serves as the main venue of the World Nomad Games, where nomadic cultures gather to celebrate traditional sports and heritage.

Today’s approximately 30 km horseback journey includes extended riding across the wide-open pastures of Kyrchyn itself. Beneath endless blue skies, we cross rolling grasslands framed by forested hills and distant snow-capped peaks. Herds of horses and livestock graze freely, offering a vivid glimpse into the traditional nomadic way of life that continues to this day.

At the jailoo, we pause for a traditional eagle hunting demonstration. This ancient practice showcases the extraordinary partnership between hunter and golden eagle — a bond built on trust, skill, and generations of knowledge. After the show, there is time to walk through the meadow, take photographs, and fully absorb the grandeur of the surroundings.

We then continue riding across Kyrchyn’s sweeping landscape before returning to our lakeside hotel by Issyk-Kul in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Cholpon-Ata - Bishkek

After breakfast, we begin our morning horseback ride along the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake. Riding approximately 20 kilometers, we follow the gentle curves of the lakeside, with the vast blue waters on one side and mountain scenery on the other. The peaceful rhythm of the horses, fresh alpine air, and wide-open views create a memorable farewell to this remarkable landscape.

After the ride, we enjoy lunch at a local lakeside café, sampling regional flavors in a relaxed setting.

In the afternoon, we drive back to the capital, Bishkek (approximately 3–4 hours). Upon arrival, there will be time to rest and freshen up at the hotel.

In the evening, we gather for a special farewell dinner at one of the city’s main traditional restaurants, accompanied by a folklore music and dance show — a vibrant celebration of Kyrgyz culture, costumes, and musical heritage.

After dinner, we return to the hotel to rest for the night.

Day 6: Bishkek – Airport

After breakfast at the hotel, we spend the morning on a guided city tour of Bishkek, exploring its main attractions, vibrant streets, and cultural landmarks. You’ll have the chance to visit local markets, historic squares, and iconic monuments, getting a final glimpse of Kyrgyzstan’s capital before departure.

Following the tour, we enjoy lunch together at a local restaurant. In the late afternoon, we transfer to the airport for your onward flight, concluding the journey with unforgettable memories of Kyrgyzstan.
